What is the government?
A group of people in a country who set the policies and make laws to control how a country operates and functions efficiently.
What is the government responsible for?
A country’s government is responsible for making sure that order is kept among the citizens of a country and that everyone follows the laws of the constitution.
What is the municipality?
Municipality: a district or town with a local government.
What is the difference between a Mayor and a Premier?
The mayor is the leader of a province and Premier is the leader of a local town.
What are the three levels of government and what do each of them do?
National government : service the whole country
Provincial government : service the province
Local government : service the local town
What are the three branches of the national government and what do each of them describe?
Legislative branch: describes the body in a country that
set the laws and make the policies for
the South African constitution.
Executive branch: describes the body that carry out the
country’s laws and policies.
Judicial branch: describe the branch that makes sure that
if anyone disobeys the laws and policies
of the country that they will be punished.
What is the South African constitution?
it is a book that contains all the laws and policies of a country.
What is a household?
Household: consumers who buy products from
businesses
What is a Business?
Businesses: producers who sell products to households /
consumers.
What is democracy?
Democracy: A system in government where all South
African citizens can vote for a political party
that they want to govern the country.
