The Gospel Flashcards
The ‘Good Person’ Argument - Questions to Determine Guilt
> Do you think you’re a good person?
> How many lies have you told in your life?
What do you call someone who tells lies?
> Have you ever stolen anything?
What do you call someone who steals things?
> Have you ever used God’s name in vain?
That’s called blasphemy
> Jesus said if you look at a woman and lust for her you commit adultery with her in your heart.
Have you ever looked at a woman with lust?
Have you had sex outside marriage?
> (I’m not judging you) By your own admission you’ve just told me you’re a lying, thieving, blaspheming, fornicating adulterer at heart
You have to face God on Judgement Day
So if He judges you by the Ten Commandments (we’ve looked at four) are you gonna be innocent or guilty?
Heaven or Hell?
The ‘Good Person’ Argument - Jesus Pays Our Fine
> Do you know what God did for guilty sinners so we wouldn’t have to go to Hell?
> Jesus suffered and died on the cross for the sin of the world
> The Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. You and I broke that Law, Jesus payed our fine
> If you’re in court and someone pays your fine the judge can let you go
He could say “there’s a stack of speeding fines against you (this is deadly serious) but someone’s payed them you’re free to go”
> God loves you so much that he became a human being, suffered and died on the cross to take the punishment for the sin of the world
> If you repent and trust in Christ, God will forgive every sin you’ve ever committed and grant you everlasting life as a free gift
