The Globe - Earths Revolusion Around The Sun Flashcards
Earths axis tilts _______ ° away from perpendicular or ______ ° to the plane of its orbit
- 5 °
- 5 °
NB: this question sounds confusing. When referring to ‘perpendicular’ it means that the Earth is tilted 23.5 degrees away from being completely upright and straight in relation to the orbital plane (google what that is). Refer to page 6 of our workbooks (maps and globes) for a diagram of this.
What does earths axis affect?
Certain times of the year different parts of 🌍 tilts towards or away from the ☀️
This affects the day and night and is responsible for the seasons ❄️ ☀️ 🍁 🌺
The axis is always ________ to its previous position
Parallel
What does earth revolve in?
An orbit
How long does it take the earth to complete a full revolution around the sun?
365.25 days or a year
What is rotation?
The movement of an object around it’s own axis. The earth rotates on its axis once every 24 hours.
What is revolution?
The orbit of an object around another object. A planet or moon revolves around another planet or star etc.
