The glenohumeral joint. Flashcards
What are the 3 layers of the glenohumeral joint?
The glenoid labrum, the synuvial membrane, and the fibrous membrane.
What is the glenoid labrum continuous with superiorly?
The long head of biceps brachii.
What is the glenoid labrum continuous with superiorly?
The long head of biceps brachii.
Where does the synuvial membrane penetrate the fibrous membrane?
1) At the lower part where it encloses the long head of biceps brachii and 2) at the subtendinous bursae for subscapularis muscle.
What is another prominent ligament of the glenohumeral joint?
The transverse tubercle ligament that encloses the tendon of biceps brachii (traps it since it goes along the lesser and greater tubercle).
What is the fibrous membrane’s attachment characteristics?
It is lower on the medial to accomodate for abduction.
What is the thickening of the glenohumeral fibrous membrane?
The superior, middle, and inferior glenohumeral ligament and the coracohumeral ligament.
