What upsets Jonas about sameness?
Jonas has been exposed to colors and enjoys them, Sameness prohibits the existence of colors because having colors means having differences.
Describe the relationship between Jonas and Gabriel.
Jonas and Gabriel have become very close. Jonas “loves” Gabriel like a brother.
How does Jonas feel about having the ability to make choices? What frustrates him about choices?
Jonas feels that having the ability to make choices is a good thing. He feels that bad choices are not entirely a bad thing.
Define dystopia. How is Jonas’ community considered a dystopia?
Dystopia is a place in which things are unpleasant or bad. Jonas realizes that his community needs a change. He must initiate the change he and the Giver desire for the community.
