Define: kickoff
Ball at 35-yard line
Special kicker
Kick return man catches ball and location is where they begin plays
Define: touchback
Kickoff is caught in offense’s own end zone
Ball placed at 20-yard line
Define: first down
If team moves ball 10+ yards, they get another set of 4 downs
*If they fail to move 10, they lose possession
Define: yardage
Each time offensive team has ball it has 4 downs/chances to gain 10 yards
When does the offense usually punt the ball?
If they have reached 4th down
Forces other team to begin drive further down the field
Define: snap and role of QB here

QB throws ball, hands it off, or runs with it
Define: the run
QB or RB runs as far as possible with ball
All other offensive players try to block defensive players/clear path

*QB may try to confuse other team by handing the ball to another player who will then pass it- making them think its a running play

QB is tackled behind line of scrimmage before he is able to pass the ball
How to score a TD?
Ball carried across goal line into end zone
Caught in end zone
Fumble recovered in end zone
Untouched kickoff recovered in end zone by kicking team
How to get extra point?
Immediately following TD, ball placed at 2-yard line, offense kicks through goal posts
Define: two point conversion
Immediately following TD, offense runs or throws ball into end zone (the same way as scoring a TD)
*More difficult than kicking for 1 point
Define: field goal
