THE FLOWER SHOP KEY TERMS Flashcards

The chemical compounds unique to cannabis that act upon the human body’s cannabinoid receptors, producint various effects.
- THC is most well known
- Over 85 known cannabinoids
CANNABIS
A plant that produces 3 species of flowering plants: Cannabis Sativa, Cannabis Indica and Cannabis Ruderalis.
CROSS
Genetics
The result when two different plant strains are bred together.
EX: Blue Dream is a cross between Blueberry and Haze strains.
[Referring to crossbreeding]

HYBRID
Plant that is genetically a cross between one or more seperate straings of cannabis.
MOST MARJIUANA ON THE MARKET TODAY IS A FORM OF HYBRID
INDICA
Cannabis plants that are shorter, bushier, and more compact flower structure.
* Tends to produce more relaxing and sedative effects
KIEF
A collected amount of trichomes that have been seperated from the rest of the marijuana flower.
* Hold the majority of the plants cannabinoids.
* Extremely potent
* Primary ingredient in HASH
LIVE RESIN
Process that uses flash frozen plants that are harvested only hours prior to extraction. Since you are using a live plant, you retain the intense terpene profile of the plant as opposed to dried flowers.
* Type of Concentrate
PHENOTYPE
Refers to the general physical charactaristics of the plant. Such as
* Height
* Color
* Branching
* Leaf Configuration
* ETC
SATIVA
Cannabis plants that grow taller, lighter in color, and take longer to flower.
* Tend to produce more cerebral (energetic) effects as opposed to physical and sedative ones.
SOLVENT EXTRACTS
Solvent based extraction methods use chemicals such as carbon dioxide or ethanol to separate useful cannabinoids from plant matter. The useful matter that is extracted can then be used in products such as wax, shatter, and budder.
SOLVENTLESS EXTRACTS
Solvent- free concentrates are not chemically impacted, therefore the flavor and potency of the products are known to be stronger.
Solventless products include:
* dry hash
* rosin
* ice hash
STRAIN
Specific variety of a plant species.
* Strains are developed to produce distinct traints and are usually named after their breeders.
