The Five Precepts

First Precept

Buddhists do not harm or kill any living being, including animals. This is the real the many Buddhists are vegetarian

Question 2

Second precept

Answer 2

As well as not stealing, this means that they will not manipulate or exploit people (taking more from others that is not given freely)

Question 3

Third precept

Answer 3

They should not engage in sexual activity that causes harm to others, such as adultery, rape or incest

Question 4

Fourth precept

Answer 4

Buddhists undertake not to lie or gossip about other people. They aim to speak truthfully, kindly, helpfully and at the right time

Question 5

Fifth precept

Answer 5

Not taking alcohol or druggist important of tBuddhists who have committed themselves in developing calm, clear awareness

1) Killing/ harming (any living things)
2) Taking what is not freely given (not just possessions)
3) Sexual misconduct (anything causing harm to others)
4) Harmful speech (lying, harsh words, slander, gossip)
5) Taking intoxicating substances (drugs or alcohol, some also include tobacco)
