What do you mean by Rowlath Act?
Rowlath act was passed in the year 1919 in the Imperial Legislative Council but was opposed by the Indian members.
According to this act any pollical prisoner can be detained in the prison for 2 years with any trial.
How did Gandhiji Reply to Rowlath Act?
On 6th April 1919 Gandhiji launched a nation wide Satyagraha with hartal.
Ralies were organized in few cities.Workers went on strike in Railways and shops were closed down.
Several local leaders were arrested, Also Gandhiji was barred (restricted) from entering Delhi.
What is the Jallianwall bagh Massacre?
On 13th April 1919 a large crowd of people gathered to protest in the ground of Jallianwall bagh in Amritsar.Few of them came to attend the Baisakhi fair
General Dyer closed all exit points and commanded to open fire at the crowd.100 of ppl were killed at this incident.
As the news spread lot of strikes and clashes with the police and govt buildings started.
The govt responded by ending the movement with humiliating the ppl. Satyagrahis were forced to rub their noses on the ground crawd on the streets and salute at all sahibs.
