FDR realised that a significant amount of money could be raised through the tac of alcohol, and also through the manufacturing process.

The Home Owners Loan Corporation
What was the CCC?
The Civilian Conservation Corps
What did the PWA do?
Used government and recourses to build: -Schools -Dams -Bridges -Airports Thus creating millions of short term jobs $3 billion was spent
What did the NRA do?
- Improved working conditions
- Outlawed child labour
- Introduced fixed wages
- Ensured sensible production levels prevent over production.
- 2 million employers joined the scheme and were awarded the Blue Eagle badge.
What did the EA do?
This reduced government expenditure by cutting the pay of all government (federal) employees by 15%
What did the FERA do?
$500 million was given to individual states to pay for soup kitchen blankets, employment schemes and nursery schools to allow parents to work.
What did NIRA do?
Set up 2 organisation: The CWA and the PWA to make industry strong again.
What did the AAA do?
The AAA set quotes on agricultural produce to help reduce produce and raise prices.
- Modern techniques were introduced to farmers.
- Soil preservation was also introduced to prevent dust bowls
- Farmers were given mortgage assistance
What did the EBA do?
All banks were shut down for a few days until they were check wed by a government official.
5000 trustworthy banks were allowed to reopen and legislation was imposed to stop reckless speculation.
What did the TVA do?
The TVA built a serves of dams along the Tennessee Valley to prevent flooding and give a constant water source for farmers, the building of which provided work for workers in a very deprived area. The dams also generated electricity.
What did the HOLC do?
The HOLC used federal funds to help home owners pay their mortgages.
What did the CCC do?
- Aimed at young men between 18 and 25
- Signed up 6 months at a time
- Environmental projects such as national parks and planting trees
- Earned $30 per month but $25 was sent back to their families.
- 2.5 million people were helped by the scheme.
