Q

What is a way to put out a fire (heat)?

A

Put it out with water, as it absorbs heat well.

Q

What is a way to put out a forest fire (fuel)?

A

Cut down trees, so the fire has nothing to burn. This often happens naturally, for example a river blocking the way. These are called fire breaks.

Q

What is a way to put out fire (oxygen)?

A

Use a fire extinguisher, as the oxygen in the fire gets pushed out and get replaced by carbon dioxide, which isn’t flammable.

Q

Why shouldn’t you put out a chip pan fire with water?

A

Because the water (which is denser than oil) will sink through and then evaporate, which causes it to rise to the surface, and while rising to the surface the water vapour pushes the oil away , therefore spreading the fire)
