bread rationing caused extensive queues and violence increased specifically towards police
22nd February events
20,000 workers locked out of Pulitov Steel Works by management after pay talks collapsed
strikes continued in support
23rd February events
international women’s day
90,000 workers on strike - women joined march from Petrograd
50 factories closed
students and women from bread queues joined = 240,000 on streets
police force needed to restore order
24th February events
200,000 on strike
crowds: overturned tsarist statues, waved red flags, wore red rosettes, shouted revolutionary slogans and sang ‘La Marseillaise’

tsar ignored and ordered Duma to dissolve
27th February events
tsar ordered Khabalov to restore order by military forces up 12-man provisional committee to take over government
revolutionaries supported soviet to take over gov

Nicholas 2nd went back to Petrograd sent telegram to Raodianko offering shared power with Duma
