Q
What were the reasons for the famine? What worsened it?
A
Lack of farming knowledge and animals - collectives couldn’t be run properly
Weapon to get rid of peasants - get rid of those who may oppose the regime in future.
brutal requisitioning
Requisitioned grain left in huge dumps or in railway sidings - groups who made attacks on grain dumps punished - shot or sent to labour camps.
grain exported to other countries stayed relatively the same, and only reduced slightly when the famine was at its worst.
