What are the risk factors

A

Family history cataracts: 1/5 of affected babies will have a family history
1st degree relative with an ocular condition
Low birth weight <1500g
Low gestational age <32/40
Genetic syndromes e.g. T21
Maternal essentials to viruses in pregnancy, E.g. rubella
Galactosaemia

What other findings can be found?

A

Retinoblastoma: intraocular malignant tumour white reflex
Glaucoma: Intraocular pressure (watery eye, cloudy cornea, photophobia)
Coloboma ( notch or gap in iris)

A
