What is the executive?
The branch of government responsible for policy making and policy implementation
What is the Prime Minister?
The head of government and of the executive branch. The PM chairs the cabinet
What is the cabinet?
The committee of senior cabinet ministers that is the main collective decision-making body of the government
Who was the first recognised PM?
Robert Walpole (1721-42)
What did the PM become the accepted role for?
First Lord of the Treasury
What are the three requirements to become Prime Minister?
He/she must be a member of the Westminster parliament
He/she must be the leader of a political party
The party he/she leads usually has a majority in parliament
