He was kept captive for 2 years and then trialed found guilty for treason against the people and then later hanged
What happened when charles was hung
The people did not have anyone to rule for them therefore turning to oliver cromwell a puritan leading the parliamentarians. This did not go to plan as he also dissolved parliament but named himself lord protector
