the end of post war consensus Flashcards
by 1970 there were the first signs that
the post-war consensus was breaking down
Britain’s economic problems did not seem to have been solved by
consensus polciies
trade unions were seemingly more
uncooperative, forcing even Labour Party to try and reform industrial relations
left of the party dissatisfied by
moderate consensus labour polciies
socia probelms and poverty had not been
ended
in the conservative party, edward Heath and his shadow cabinet were also starting to doubt the
efficacy of key elements of the post-war consensus, as well as identifying the need for trade union reform
-questioning whether state should take as great role in planning the economy and ensuring full employment
