How are states awarded Electoral votes via the Electoral College?

. The number of votes a state is awarded is based on that states representation in Congress/ the 2 senators and however representatives.

. E.g. California has 2 senators and 53 representatives so it has a total of 55 Electoral College votes.

How is the Vice President involves in the Electoral College process?

. Once the electors of each state have collected their results, they send the results to the Vice President who then counts them and announces the results to a joint session of Congress.

. They are essentially members of the electoral college.

. They are responsible for collecting electoral college results within the states.
