What is eBusiness?
eBusiness is that area which involves the interaction of ICT, information systems and information with organisational activity. In other words, any modern business.
Which are the three aspects of a sign?
Forma, informa and performa.
What does forma stand for?
Forma stands for the substance of a sign and concerns its physical representation as data.
What does informa stand for?
Informa stands for the meaning associated with a sign and concerns the interpretation of data as information.
What does performa stand for?
Performa relates to the use of the sign to support coordinated activity or performance.
Why are signs an important part of business?
Signs are important in all forms of activity, they establish what it is to be human. Without signs we could not think, we could not communicate what we think and we could not ensure that we collaborate together successfully in our working activity.
What is an activity system?
An activity system is a social system, also called a ‘soft’ system. It includes a collection of activities performed by a group of people, often in fulfilment of some goal or goals. It is also equivalent with a business process. (A pattern of performative acts).
What is an information system?
An information system is a system of communication between people. Information systems support activity systems in the sense that information is important for the coordination of human activity to meet established goals. (A pattern of communicative acts).
What is a data system?
Data systems are ‘hard’ systems. Used to record, create, update, and retrieve performative and communicative activities.
What is an organisations’ infrastructure?
The entire collection of systems necessary for an organisation to achieve its goals. Consists of systems of social organisation and technology that support human activity.
