What Was The Home Rule Crisis?
From 1912 to 1914, the British parliament contemplated passing laws to establish Irish Home Rule. The parliament passed a Third Home Rule Bill in 1912 in the House of Commons but the House of Lords held it up and then World War I began.
Why Did The Nationalist Groups Fail?
The different Nationalist groups didn’t share the same goals, they lacked communication and coordination, a deal with the Germans for arms fell through, and not enough people were interested or prepared to fight.

British retaliation led to growing support for Nationalists. This led to partitioning in Ireland. Although a short-term disaster, some Nationalists believed the uprising was a long-term success for their cause.
