The Earth Flashcards
What are the layers of the earth
Inner core, outer core, crust, mantle
What are the elements in the earths crust
Oxygen, silicon , calcium, aluminium , sodium ,iron
What elements are in the earths atmosphere
Oxygen , nitrogen, argon, carbon dioxide
What is the atmosphere
A mixture of gases that surrounds the earth
What is the troopesphere
The atmosphere nearest the earths atmossphere
Why is carbon vital to the atmosphere
Because it keeps the earth warm and it keeps plants and animals alive
What are the six stores of carbon
Soil, the atmosphere, plants and animals, sedimentary rock, fossil fuels , oceans.
What is combustion
When fuels such as wood burn to make fossil fuels
What is respiration
Transefs energy in food that plants and animals have eaten
What is photosynthesis
Plants use carbon dioxide for glucose and food
What happens to carbon dioxide that isn’t photosynthesised
It dissolves in the sea
How are humans adding carbon to the carbon cycle
Burning down trees
Burning fossil fuels
What is global warming
An increase in the global air temperature
What is deforestation
Cutting down or burning trees
What is climate change
A long term change of weather
