The step from officer to supervisor is a big one that calls for a new set of skills and knowledge largely separate from that learned at lower levels in the organization.
When new supervisors attempt to correct deficient behavior, their own previous performance may be recalled as a means of challenging the reasonableness or legitimacy of their supervisory action.
