Family Counseling
It is used to help communities who may be struggling with an
increased amount of shared problem.
Community Counseling
This goal assists in meeting or advancing the client’s human growth and development including social, personal,
emotional, cognitive, and physical wellness. This means that this goal is associated in meeting or advancing the client’s
anticipated human growth and development.
Developmental Goal
This goal helps the client avoid some undesired outcome. This means that this goal focuses on the anticipation and
avoidance of conflicts or problems.
Preventive Goal
This goal enhances special skills and abilities. This means that this goal aims to provide motivation to clients that they
can be better, that they can improve their special skills and abilities, that a certain skill or ability will be further more
developed.
Enhancement Goal
This goal assists the client to overcome and treat an undesirable development. This means that this goal focuses on
helping individuals to correct or to improve something.
Remedial Goal
This goal examines options, tests skills, tries new and different activities, etc. This means that this goal explores which
is the process of learning about your client and why they have to come to counseling.
Exploratory Goal
This goal involves acquiring the basic foundation of learning and cognitive skills. This means that this goal refers to
conscious intellectual activity such as thinking, reasoning, remembering, and understanding
Cognitive Goal
This goal involves acquiring the basic understanding and habits for good health. This means that this goal helps the
client to realize that health is very important aspect of one’s life and individuals who goes through a tough situations in
life must not forget to take good care of themselves.
Physiological Goal
This goal aids in developing good social interaction skills, learning emotional control, and developing positive selfconcept. This means that this goal aims to help people with physical, emotional, mental health aspects, to improve their
sense of well-being, to relieve feelings of distress and to resolve crisis.
Psychological Goal
This means that the counselor must provide a client unconditional positive regard, compassion, non- judgmental attitude,
empathy and trust.
Respect for Human Dignity
This means that the counselor has to foster partnership with the various disciplines that come together to support an
integrated healing that encompasses various aspects such as the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual. These
relationships should be of integrity, sensitivity, and openness to ensure health, healing, and growth of clients
Partnership
This entails respect for confidentiality and trust in a relationship of counseling and ensuring a safe environment that is
needed for healing. It also means that healing or any advice cannot be imposed on a client.
Autonomy
This means respecting the potential of every human being to change and to continue learning throughout his/her life,
and especially in the environment of counseling.
Responsible Caring
This means that the counselors must reflect personal integrity, honesty, and truthfulness with clients.
