What does the duodenum do?

A

Water drawn in from ECF to make hypertonic chyme isotonic
Liver releases bile-contains water, alkali and bile salts to emulsify fat

Pancreas and liver secrete alkali to neutralise acidic chyme

Pancreas liver and intestine secrete specific enzymes which act with bile to complete digestion of chyme.
