What is the purpose of the government and what can the ppl. do?

That to secure these rights, gov. are instituted amoung men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall most liekly to effect their Safety and Happiness.

To make sure the ppl rights are respected. If the government is “destructive” they have the right to alter and abolish it.

Ex. Trump used his power to attempt to abolish womans rights & abortion
