Verb - To treat unworthy of consideration or to allow to take leave

Faction (sect)
Noun - A smaller, dissenting group of people within a larger group
Fathom
Verb - To understand fully, DEEPLY
Prodigious
Adjective - Great in size, force, extent, or degree
Partisan (supporter)
Noun - A person who STRONGLY supports something or someone (I’m a partisan of no-school Fridays)
Falter
Verb - To move hesitantly, as if to fall
Example: the stranger falters out of the thicket and drops to his knees
Defer (give into/respected)
Verb - To yield to another’s wish or opinion
Example: She deferred to her father’s wishes
Gaunt
Adjective - Very thin from disease, hunger, or cold
Apparition (ghost)
Noun - A ghostly or supernatural appearing figure
Example: Startled at what seemed like an apparition, Knebel snapped out of her suicidal trance and quickly found an alibi.
Contention (competition)
Noun - The act of competing (for profit/prize)
Example: Tiger Woods splashed his way into contention in the New Zealand Open
Calumny (defamation)
Noun - A false accusation of an offense (made in order to damage someone’s rep)
Example: Contrary to the calumnies offered by both progressives and populists, the president isn’t a bad person
Conjure
Verb - To summon into action or bring into existence by magic
