  • One reason is because it is the very basis of Judaism. This is important because following the 613 mitzvot, the Jews are separated from the Gentilles.
  • A second reason is because Jewish people have a duty to keep the mitzvot as part of their side of the covenant. This is important because keeping the mitzvot make them God’s people.
