What is meant by an uncodified constitution?
There is no single document that explicitly outlines the constitution
What is meant by constitutional laws being unentrenched?
Statute laws and constitutional laws are indifferent. Parliament can change both laws

Parliament
What can’t judges challenge?
Parliament’s ability to make or amend statute laws
What suggests that the UK constitution is dated?
Built up from old documents such as the Magna Carta in 1215 which promises habeas corpus which is the right to be present at a trial against you
What are statute laws?
Laws that are passed by Parliament making those laws sovereign
Give an example of a statue law
Freedom of information act 2000 which allows public access to information held by the authorities
What are conventions?
Traditions and customs that are part of the UK system but are not explicit laws
Name an example of a convention
A PM is not legally obliged to resign after losing an election however they do this anyway due to it being conventional
Name a constitutional change that has enhanced human rights?
Human Rights Act 1998 made the ECHR law in the UK
what did the 1999 HOL reform act do?
Removed hereditary peers from the HOL
When was the Human Rights Act made into UK law?
1998
What did the fixed term parliament act do in 2011?
Fixed the dates of UK general elections to once every five years
