The Conceptual Framework And Literature Review Flashcards
Introduction
Why are we doing this research?
1. How or why is the topic important?
2. What has previous related research found on the subject? What was lacking?
3. How do we plan to expand on the topic?
4. Objectives/Aims/Hypotheses
Methods
1. State the general method used (observational, qualitative etc.)
2. Describe important aspects of data analysis
A. Inclusion criteria (e.g. people with anxiety over de age of 18)
B. Data collection method (e.g. STAI questionnaire and counted breaths per minute at rest)
C. Data analysis method (e.g. correlation)
3. Describe any methods to ensure quality of data. (Eg. A trained member of the study team was present with participants as they completed survey to any questions)
Results
1. Describe samples characteristics (important for doing subgroup analysis, if applicable)
A. Mean age, standard deviation
B. Sex/Gender proportion/number
C. Race/ethnicity proportion
- Describe analysis numerically. (e.g. there was a strong positive correlation (.71) between anxiety and resting respiratory rate)
- Usually this is where most figures or tables would be located.
- Describe subgroup analysis if applicable.
Discussion
- Restate the aim of the study along with supporting information from the intro
- Restate findings
- Describe how your findings compare to previous research
- Discuss strengths and limitations of your study.
- Give a conclusion about how the research is helpful for the field and/or can be practically applied.
