what was the Truman doctrine?
an American foreign policy that pledges American “support for democracies against authoritarian threats.” The doctrine originated with the primary goal of countering the growth of the Soviet bloc
what was the marshal plan?
the US’s response to the rapid growth of communism
what did the marshal plan involve?
a plan to prevent economic dip for countries who are ore reliant on others, because turman through if there were a economic dip it would allow for the spread of communism
how did the soviet union perceive the marshal plan?
they saw it as a means to spread capitalism
what was Stalins response to the marshal plan?
set up a reigours from of communisms trade were countries were expected to only trade with other communist countries.
what was the Berlin block?
the soviet union decided to use all the German resources for Russia and essentially drained all of their resources. the west didn’t like this so they merged all their sanctions. stalin didn’t like this so he blocked the rial road into west germnay so the western allies had to fly their resources in
what is containment?
it was a united states tactic that was the action to control the spread of communism rather than stoping it all together
what did stalins death do?
it ended his personality cult and bought Khrushchev into power Khrushchev wanted to end the cold war
