Theatrics were important because it marked the end of the war and unification of the country

He turned the war more and more against slavery, after it started for just unification.

Why significant?
Lee ordered Pickett’s charge on the third day (it was hopeless), March across open field to Union forces- clear shot for Union shooters, Lost almost all of his troops.
