The Circulation System Flashcards
What are the main components of a typical circulation system (in order)?
- Balance tank
- Pre-pump strainer
- Circulation pump(s)
- Filter(s)
- Heat exchanger
What is the purpose of the pre-pump strainer?
Prevents small items of physical pollution from entering the circulation pump (where it would cause damage).
What is the purpose of the circulation pump(s)
Moves water around the circulation system.
What is the purpose of the filter(s)
To trap pollution within the filtering media (which is usually sand) to prevent it re-entering the pool water.
What is the purpose of the balance tank?
To provide a ‘reserve’ of water. This keeps the pool at a consistent depth.
What does ‘flow rate’ mean?
The rate at which water is travelling through the circulation system (usually in cubic metres per hour).
