why was the Charter of the French language introduced?

A

low rate of francophone’s birth, immigrants chose English over French, it was difficult to receive service in French (business chose English over French)

it stipulates that an employer is prohibited from dismissing, laying off or transferring a member of his staff for the SOLE reason is that he exclusively speak French or because he as demanded a right from the Charter to be respected

A

an employer cannot make the obtaining of an employment dependent upon the knowledge of a language other than the official language unless the nature of the duties requires such knowledge (meaning an employer cannot not hire someone bc he does not talk English)
