The Cell (Plant and Animal Cells) Flashcards
What is Endoplasmic Reticulum?
Endoplasmic Reticulum is the material transporter. Or the highway. There are 2 types. The Smooth Endoplasmis Reticulum, and the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum. The only difference is that the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum has ribosomes stuck to it.
What is the Golgi Apparatus?
The Golgi Apparatus stores the protein and puts them in packages called vesciles. The vesciles then transport the packages or protein to a cell. It is then released.
What are 3 differences between the animal and plant cells.
The plant cell is rectangular … The animal cell is circular. The plant cell has chloroplast … The animal cell doesn’t The plant cell has a cell wall … The animal cell doesn’t
Why do plant cells have thicker cell walls?
Plant cells have thicker cell walls because they dont move. They need more protection because they cant get up and run away or fight back.
Why are plant cells square, where animal cells are circular?
Plant cells are square because plants don’t move. Animal sells need to be able to move around and need to be built so that they don’t get damaged or something like that when they need to move around.
What is the** nucleus?**
The nucleus is the control center of the cell. It controls all of the cells actions in both plant and animal cells.
What is the vacuole?
The vacuole stores things like water, sugars, or waste. Animal cells are more likely to have waste. Plants don’t have waste like humans or animals do. The vacuole in a plant would store things like water or sugars.
What is Cytoplasm?
Cytoplasm is what holds all the organelles.
What protects the body from bacteria and viruses?
Antibodies and white blood cells. But first its our skin that trys to keep the bacteria out. But is we do as much as rub our eyes or wipe our nose or even touch our face we can let any bacteria in. If the even one bacteria gets to the nucleus, it can take over and reproduce up to 10,000 more bad bacteria.
What is a Mitochondria?
The mitocondria provides energy for the cell.
What are Ribosomes?
Ribosomes produce proteins for the cell. Proteins are needed for growth, repair, and reproduction.
What does the nucleus do?
The nucleus controls the whole cell. It tells all the different parts of the cell what to do. It is the brain of the cell.
What does the vacuole do?
The vacuole hold protein and fluids for the cell.
What does cytoplasm do?
Cytoplasm is the fluid throghout the cell that things float around in.
What does the mitochondria do?
The mitochondria produce energy for the animal and plant cell. It is like the cafeteria of the cell.
