What occurs during the exploration stage?
A
- Small number of visitors are attracted by specific feature e.g. Beach
- Locals have not developed many tourist servies

What occurs during the involvement stage?
A
- Local population sees opportunity and provides services for tourists e.g. Accommodation

What occurs during the development stage?
A
- Large companies build hotels and leisure complexes
- Number of tourists rise dramatically
- Job opportunities for local people grow rapidly

What occurs during the consolidation stage?
A
- Tourism now major part of local economy
- Numbers of visitors are steady making employment more secure
- Some hotel and other facilities are becoming old and unattractive; type of customer goes downhill

What occurs during the stagnation stage?
A
- Visitors prefer other resorts
- Day trippers and weekenders become main source of income

What occurs during the rejuvenation or decline stage?
A
Rejuvenation: - Attempts are made to modernise the resort and attracts different people (e.g. Blackpool)
Decline: - The resort becomes unfashionable and numbers of visitors start to decline
- Businesses change hands and often fail
