Cabinet
A body of advisers to the president composed of the heads of executive departments of the government
Hatch Act
Law prohibiting government employees from active participation in partisan politics while on duty or for employees in sensitive positions at any time.
Iron Triangle
Tight relationship with a policy area between one government agency, a committee in Congress and an outside lobbying group
Independent Agencies
Agencies that exist outside of the federal executive departments, (Those headed by a cabinet secretary.
Government Corporations
Partial profit, partial public, usually charges for services, supported by tax revenue
Issue Networks
An alliance of various interest groups and individuals who unite in order to promote a single issue in government policy
Federal Reserve Board
Governing body of the federal reserve system that oversees federal reserve banks, establish the monetary policy, and monitors economic health of the country
Legislative Veto
A veto exercised by a legislative body that nullifies or reverses an action or decision made by the executive branch.
Rulemaking Authoirty
Power given to agencies by the Congress to create regulations
White House Staff
Entity within the executive office of the President made up mostly of many of the President’s closest advisers and overseen by Chief of Staff
