A doctor. This is an example of dramatic irony because we know Pavel was a doctor before going to the camps.
Why will mother take credit for Bruno’s recovery?
- Doesn’t want anything to happen to Pavel.
- Knows that she and Pavel could get in trouble because she let a (Jewish) prisoner touch Bruno.
Why is grandmother singing La Vie En Rose? Why does it look bad on father?
Grandmother is singing this song because it looks bad for father. It looks bad because it seems like she is going against Germany. If you go against Germany, you go against Hitler.
What has father decided? Who is the kids’ new teacher?
Father decided that it is time for the kids to do school again. The teacher’s name is Herr Lizst.

It is the Nazi belief that all the world’s problems, and especially Germany’s, were caused by the Jews.
