There are 7 times 2 true ribs (connected to the sternum), there are 5 times 2 false ribs (which are not connected to the sternum), and 2 times 2 of the false ribs are called floating ribs because they are not connected to the breast bone.
What are the bones of the verebral column, and how many are in each part of it?
There are three parts. The cervical (7), thoracic (12), and lumbar (5). There is also the sacrum and the coccyx. The top two cervical bones are called the atlas and the axis.
