Learn
What is the pH of blood?
7.4
What is the smallest white blood cell found in circulation?
Erythrocytes are smaller than any of the white bloody cells. The only smaller cellular components in blood are thrombocytes.
Where is the hormone erythropoietin produced?
The kidney. Erythropoietin is needed for maturation of red blood cells as they develop within the bone marrow.
Which white blood cell has granules in its cytoplasm containing histamine?
The basophil.
Which white blood cells are responsible for the production of antibodies?
B-lymphocytes
In which cell would you see Howell–jolly bodies?
Reticulocytes are immature red blood cells that have been pushed out into the circulation before they are ready. They are normally seen in anaemia since an immature rbc can still carry some oxygen and support the animal. The Howell-jolly bodies are the remnants of organelles including the nucleus that are normally removed from the erythrocytes as they mature.
What can the bicuspid valve also be called?
The mitral valve
