What was it?
A
Most people today think it was bubonic plague carried by fleas on rats.

How did people think it was caused?
A
- Religion: God sent it as a punishment of sins
- Astrology: The positions of planets was unusual
- Miasma: Bad air or smells
- Four humours: Caused by imbalance
- Outsiders: strangers or witches

How did people try and prevent it?
A
- Praying and fasting
- Clearing up the streets
- Lighting fires
- Carrying herbs and spices
- Not letting unknow people enter the town

- Swelling of glands into large lumps filled with the p word (ew gross)
- Fever and chills
- Headaches
- Vomiting and diarrhoea
