The Binomial Distribution Flashcards
What are the two parameters of the binomial distribution?
Sample size (n) and the probability of the outcome of any one individual (pi)
What is the definition of right skewed data?
Data are right-skewed if the mean for the data is larger than the median. This is caused by the right tail being heavier than the left.
What is the definition of left skewed data
Data are left-skewed if the mean for the data is smaller than the median. This is caused by the left tail being heavier than the right tail.
When is it acceptable to use the normal approximation to the binomial distribution?
When npi and n-npi are 10 or more. i.e. there are 10 or more individuals with the outcome and 10 or more without the outcome.
