Q
The Bill of Rights
A
Previously, the Bill of Rights was not incorporated to the states. This changed once the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment was used as a work-around to apply it to the states and local governments. (Burlington v. Quincy Railroad). The Bill of Rights applies to the federal government through the Fifth Amendment which is called reverse incorporation. (Bolling v. Sharpe). Over time, all of the Bill of Rights has been incorporated and is applicable to the states.
