-understanding the time period, author, and motive
Continuity and Change
Processes often illustrate:
-patterns and/or turning points
-moments of progress or decline
Cause and Consquence
Identify the events/groups involved:
-short/long term social, political, and economic conditions
-intended and unintended results
Historical Perspectives
-infer how people felt and thought in the past
-who they were in life
-what they experienced, and where they lived.
The Ethical Dimension
-Understand the historical context to make informed judgements
-Identify the lessons from the past, and our responsibility to acknowledge contributions and correct injustices
