Acts 1:8 - They’ll receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them
Why is Acts 2 the most significant transition?
Because it is the sending of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the new age, the church age

Old age - the Spirit is with you and men serve God under law
New age - the Spirit is in you and men serve God out of love for Jesus Christ
How is John 7:39 fulfilled in Acts?
John 7:39 says that the Spirit would come after Jesus was glorified. Acts 1 closes with the ascension of Jesus, and Acts 2 begins with the coming of the Spirit
What is the church?
The church is the body of all believers that are all indwelt with the Holy Spirit
What is the Greek word for church and what’s it mean?
The word “church” is a translation of the Greek word ekklesia, which is defined as “an assembly” or “called-out ones.”
What does it mean that the church is the body of Christ?
The church is called the body of Christ because Christ is the head and believers are like parts of the human body. By the Holy Spirit, believers are brought into union with Jesus Christ and with each other. Believers have different spiritual gifts, skills, and purposes, yet every believer is equally important to the full functioning mission of the church, which is to do the work of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ is _____ in his church.
Incarnate
What does Romans 8:9 teach us?
If you are not indwelt with the Holy Spirit, you do not belong to Jesus Christ, which means you are not part of the church.
Why do we call what happens in Acts 2 “The Baptism of The Holy Spirit?”
Because Jesus calls it that in Acts 1:5
What is Acts 2:1-4?
The evidence of the Spirit’s coming?
When are believers baptized with the Holy Spirit today? Why was it different here?
Believers are baptized with the Holy Spirit at the moment of salvation. That was not the case with these people because the Spirit didn’t come until after Jesus ascended and this was the specific time for the spirit to come.
What day/celebration was it when the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurred?
Pentecost
