Why were mountains considered sacred sites?
Mountains were considered sacred sites to the Aztecs because the Aztecs believed that if they go higher to the sky they will physically come closer to god.
Why did the Aztecs choose to make their home where they did?
The Aztecs believed that god told them to go search for a eagle on a cactus eating a snake and they had to make a permanent settlement. So what turned out happening was that this was seen and they made a settlement there.

The Aztecs made their settlements in between lakes and they were surrounded by mountains. The weather was rainy because water from the lakes evaporated and and the mountains made it rain.
What is one benefit of the mountains and what are two drawbacks of the mountains?
pros: The mountains gave security to the Aztecs it was like a wall
cons: The mountains made it flood in low lying areas because the water would flow down because of it’s steepness.
How did the Aztecs use Lake Texcoco to protect them?
The Tenochtitlan settlement settled in between Lake Texcoco this lake protected them from invasions and war from enemies.
Explain two ways the Aztecs altered the geography to help them survive.
The lakes settlement was ideal for protection against enemies and the mountains created a sense of security.

It is located in the middle of Mexico were the valley of Mexico is located.
