  • communist propaganda helped attract membership
  • explicit appeals to the unemployed using the Slovak ‘bread and freedom’
  • posters that linked the KPD with the USSR and it’s belief in internationalism
  • lots of the propaganda attacked the SPD
  • support grew reaching peak of 16.9%
