Lexington and concord
April 1775
Started American Revolutionary War. Tensions were building between 13 colonies and British authorities. On night of April 18 British troops marched from Boston to concord in order to seize gunpowder. Paul revere sounded the alarm and colonial militia began to intercept redcoats. A confrontation on the Lexington green started off the fighting and soon the British retreated under intense fire. In 1783 colonists won independence
