What is keratitis?
Inflammation of the cornea.
Symptoms include: moderate/intense pain, impaired vision, photophobia, red eye, and “gritty” sensation.
What is conjunctivitis?
Inflammation of the conjunctiva.
Symptoms include: Sticky, gritty, stringy discharge, vision is NOT affected, mild redness of entire eye surface.
What is scleritis?
Inflammation of the sclera.
A VERY serious, sight-threatening condition.
Symptoms include: Severe pain, awake at night, worse on movement, vision may be reduced. If at front then intense red eye; if at back then NO red eye.
What is uveitis?
Also known as iritis. Inflammation of the iris.
Symptoms include: Moderate unilateral pain, photo-phobia, watery discharge, blurred vision, circum-corneal redness, constricted pupil.
What is a stye?
Also known as a hordeolum.
Bacterial infection of an oil gland/ hair follicle in the eyelid.
What is blepharitis?
Inflammation of the eyelids.
