The Abdomen Flashcards
Where is the xiphoid process?
Xiphoid process is also known as metasternum, xiphisternum and xiphoid cartilage. It is located exactly at the center of the chest below the nipple line in a downward projection at the lowest portion of the rib that connects the sternum.
Where is the iliac crest?
The iliac crest is the area where arching bones sit on either side of your pelvis.
Where is the anterior superior iliac spine?
The anterior inferior iliac spine (abbreviated: AIIS) is a bony eminence on the anterior border of the hip bone, or, more precisely, the wing of the ilium.
Where is the pubic tubercle?
The pubic tubercle is a prominent forward-projecting tubercle on the upper border of the medial portion of the superior ramus of the pubis. The inguinal ligament attaches to it. The pubic spine is a rough ridge that extends from the pubic tubercle to the upper border of the pubic symphysis.
Where is the symphysis pubis?
The pubic symphysis is a secondary cartilaginous joint (a joint made of hyaline cartilage and fibrocartilage) located between the left and right pubic bones near the midline of the body. More specifically, it is located above any external genitalia and in front of the bladder.
