What is meant by pragmatism?
For a course of action be right it must work. It must work towards the end that is love.
What is meant by relativism?
Situationists avoid applying absolutes to decision making. There are no fixed that must be obeyed.
What is meant my positivism?
Christians freely choose to believe that God is love and then act in a way that reflects this faith statement.
What is meant by personalism?
People are seen as more sacred laws. Human beings come first and are not to be treated as ‘means’.
What is the 1st fundamental principle?
'’Only one thing is intrinsically good; namely love: nothing else at all’’
What is the 2nd fundamental principle?
'’The ruling norm of Christian decision is love: nothing else’’
What is the 3rd fundamental principle?
'’Love and justice are the same, for justice is love distributed, nothing else.’’
What is the 4th fundamental principle?
'’Love wills the neighbour’s good whether we like him or not.’’
What is the 5th fundamental principle?
'’Only the end justifies the means, nothing else.’’
What is the 6th fundamental principle?
'’Love’s decisions are made situationally, not prescriptively.’’
What does the 1st fundamental principle mean?
An action is good/evil depending on whether or not they promote love.
What does the 2nd fundamental principle mean?
The Ten commandments are not absolute. Jesus broke them when love was demanded it. e.g. healing on the Sabbath.
What does the 3rd fundamental principle mean?
Love and justice can’t be separated from one another. Justice is love at work in the whole community, for the whole community.
What does the 4th fundamental principle mean?
This love is not driven by feeling, it is not erotic or sentimental. But a desire for the good of other people.This is New Testament agape love.
